I recruits in larger numbers than j | hitherto. ! Mr H. Stimson announced that 52 , I new-type tank destroyer battalions j 1 will be formed soon to combat the ! | mechanised striking forces. Ten other ■ j battalions, all to be equipped with j j the latest types of self-propelled j i guns, are to be formed as soon as J manpower is available. J Mr Stimson also announced that l the army plans the training of 10,000 j bombardier navigators within a year •to operate the army’s secret bombsight and navigate the long-range bombers.
