MONEY FOR CALVES
OVER 20,(100 PAYMENTS SUM OF £41,000 INVOLVED Over 20,000 individual payments, aggregating a total exceeding £41,000, have been made by the New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association in completion of its advance payment on all calves collected from its 64 associated calf pools to August 31. The minimum advance payment rate on all but underweight calves was 5s at the farm gate, while on underweight or skinner calves an advance payment of 2s was made. Up to the end of August the association’s total New Zealand collections amounted to 175,000, being 8500 greater than for the corresponding period last year. The final payment on all calves collected to November 30 will be made as soon after this date as possible, when the differential payment as between •kinners, light and heavy calves for the reason will tie reflected.
