FIRST BIRTHDAY
HOMELAND SOCIETY The Homeland Society held its first birthday at the Y.M.C.A. recently and members welcomed a large number of friends. The hall was artistically decorated with the emblems of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Mrs M. Warren, the retiring president, was presented with a shoulder spray as a mark of appreciation for her work during the year. An enjoyable evening passed very pleasantly in dancing, interspersed with the following items:—Miss Nan Campbell, songs; Mr J. Kilburn, selections on mouth organ; Mr H. Kilburn, selections on concertina; Mr R. Poole, humorous monologues; Messrs Barnett, Griffiths and Poole, humorous items. Supper was served under the direction of Mrs Coupe, and the cake was cut by members of the committee. The cake was made by Mrs Morley and beautifully decorated by Mrs F. Waters.
