DAIRY FACTORY WORKERS SEVERAL APPEALS REVIEWED Two medical students in their final year of training at the Waikato Hospital, Charles Swanson and Ellis T, Dick, were granted sine die adjournment of appeals on their behalf at the Hamilton sitting of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board today. Three employees of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., were appealed for by the company and the Director of National Service. The men were Walter K. Maria, Te Aroha West, Gordon Cameron Gibson, Waitakaruru, and Norman Hay, Matamata. The appeal for Maria was dismissed, but he will not be called before April 1, 1942. Gibson was granted adjournment sine die, but lie will be required to attend Home Guard parades Hay’s case will be reviewed not later than February, 1942, and meantime he is to attend Home Guard parades. John Henry Gore, farmer, Tuhikaramea (Mr A. W. Chapman), appealed for John Malcolm Gore, his son, and for Hubert Arthur Thurston, an employee. After hearing evidence the board granted adjournment sine die for both men. John Malcolm Gore is to be transferred to territorial service and his case will be reviewed not later than February, 1942. The board expressed the opinion that the father had not been reasonably diligent in trying to find replacement labour. Decisions Announced

Other decisions announced were: Harvey Charles Hall, truck driver, Frankton Junction (Director’s appeal), granted sine die adjournment. Mrs A. M. Ahern for Raymond John Ahern, "box and cheese-crate worker, Frankton Junction, appeal dismissed, but reservist granted leave until March 1, 1942. Foreman Motors, Ltd., for James Cedric Jobe, panelbeater, Hamilton, granted sine die adjournment, and transferred to the territorials. Norman T. Westlake, farmer, Te Pahu, Eric Stansfield Sager, farmer, Te Kowhai, and Christopher Charles Perkins, farmer, Te Rapa, granted adjournment sine die. A recommendation was made in respect of an appeal for Leonard Rex Odgers, Taupiri, that he be retained in his present occupation as a dairy iarme.n Most of the cases dealt with today were reviews of appeals heard previously.
