UNITED HOUSEWIVES

TALK ON RE-CONSTRUCTION The fortnightly meeting of the United Housewives took place recently at the Y.M.C.A., when Miss Jamieson, Dominion Secretary of the National Council of Women, gave an interesting talk on re-construction after the war. Miss Jamieson spoke of the sacrifices that will have to be made and how the winning of the peace will be even harder than winning the war. Re-construction will have to begin with the individual, and she suggested that women define what they want for re-building, why they want it, and how they, as individuals, suggest doing it. The speaker remarked that so many groups were taking up the subject, and so many people think that war is not the way to establish the true foundation of the brotherhood of man.

Miss Jamieson’s talk was much appreciated, and she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 16, at 2 p.m., at the Y.M.C.A., when Mrs Earle will be the speaker.
