Copyrlfttl) (Received August 30, 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 29 The Metropolitan Opera Association is facing an acute situation owing to Madame Kirsten Flagstad’s failure to return from Norway and the continued illness of Miss Marjorie Lawrence (the Australian singer), who has been mentioned as fulltime successor to Madame Flagstad. Miss Lawrence is now being treated by Sister Kenny at the Minneapolis hospital. Both her legs are partially paralysed, but her condition is improving slowly.
