PATRIOTIC FUNDS
WAIKATO ZONE COLLECTIONS TOTAL OF £54,116 RAISED A total of £54,116 11s 9d has been collected in the Waikato Zone for patriotic purposes up to July 31, 1941. A statement presented to the Patriotic Zone Committee, in Hamilton, by the secretary, Mr W. L. Waddel, showed that for the war period to October 1, 1940, a total of £7086 19s 7d was raised, of which Hamilton contributed £4719 5s 2d, Ngaruawahia £134 13s 2d, Huntly £22 7s 6d, Raglan £666 4s 6d, Cambridge £261 2s 6d, Te Awamutu £165 14s lid, Te Kuiti £283 14s 7d, Waitomo £356 19s 3d, Kawhia £6B 3s Id, Morrinsville £304 2s 9d, and Te Aroha £lO4 12s 2d.
Figures for the next period, from October 1, 1940, to July 31, 1941, showed Hamilton’s contributions as £5539 16s 7d, plus £8159 raised by the Queen Carnival; Ngaruawahia and Huntly £292 18s lOd, plus £2785; Raglan £285 18s 5d and £4379; Cambridge £207 11s and £3049; Te Awamutu £241 14s lid and £7984; Te Kuiti and Waitomo, £473 14s 4d, and £3093; Kawhia and Otorohanga, £176 2s lOd and £2360; Morrinsville, £677 4s, and £4439; and Te Aroha, £492 11s 3d and £2394.
The grand total of contributions to July 31, 1941, was £54,116 11s 9d, made up as follows:—Hamilton £18,418 Is 9d, Ngaruawahia and Huntly £3234 19s 6d, Raglan £5331 2s lid, Cambridge £3517 13s 6d, Te Awamutu £8391 9s lOd, Te Kuiti and Waitomo £4207 8s 2d, Kawhia and Otorohanga £2604 5s ljd, Morrinsville £5420 6s 9d, Te Aroha £2991 3s sd.
Mr Waddel pointed out that the figures included amounts banked to July 31 and did not include amounts received in July and banked in August
