Mr H. D. Caro, Mayor of Hamilton, who was in Auckland yesterday, returned today.
Mr J. O. Hanlon, of Hamilton, left today to take up residence in Auckland.
Mr J. B. Davis has been gazetted as Registrar of Marriages for the Morrinsville district.
Mr F. C. Johnstone, a member of the Electoral Committee of the New Zealand Meat Board, has returned from Wellington, where he attended the annual meeting of the board. The Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog, Dean of Hamilton, has handed his resignation to the Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, and the resignation has been accepted. Dean Weatherhog is a captain chaplain at the Rotorua military camp. Mr G. Hayden, secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board, Wellington, and Mr K. S. Usmar, secretary of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council, are expected to visit Hamilton on Monday, September 8, and the Waikato Zone executive committee intends to hold a special meeting on that date to confer with them.
Mr T. N. Pemberton, headmaster at the Papakura School, and formerly of Hamilton, was tendered a civic farewell on severing his connection with the school after two years and a-half. High tributes were paid to the schoolmaster for his outstanding work by the Mayor, Mr S. Evans, and Mr M. J. Finn, the chairman of the parents’ association, and several presentations were made on behalf of the residents and the .children.

Messrs L. J. Snell, P. Towland, J. Croksley (Auckland), A. Steir (National Park) and R. T. Keane (Helensville), are at the Hamilton Hotel.
