GIFT EVENING
Miss Josephine Goodwin, who was married this week, was guest-of-honour at a gift evening held recently in the Tirau Public Hall and organised by her friends in the district. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs C. P. Gardner and Mr Jack Ford. Mr G. Wilson was Master of Ceremonies. Elocutionary items by Miss E. Conway were much appreciated. During an interval in the programme Mr Wilson asked Miss Goodwin to accept the numerous gift parcels. Mr Wilson spoke of the high esteem in which the guest-of-honour was held and wished her every happiness in her married life. On behalf of the Matamata County Council staff, at Tirau, of which Mr K. Otto—Miss Goodwin’s fiance is a member—Mr Beck presented the couple with a china cabinet.
