RAGLAN SEAT
LABOUR CANDIDATE MR R. COULTER SELECTED WELLINGTON, Thursday The selection of Mr Robert Coulter, of Te Aroha, as the Labour Party candidate for the Raglan seat in the general election, has been confirmed by the national executive of the New Zealand Labour Party. Mr Coulter formerly represented Waikato in the House of Representatives but failed to win the Hauraki seat when the boundaries were changed three years ago, being defeated by Lieut-Colonel J. M. Allen. Mr Coulter was also Mayor of Te Aroha for 20 years, but was defeated at the last election. He is a member of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board. The National Party candidate for the Raglan seat is Mr A. S. Sutherland, who also contested the seat at the last election. The sitting member, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, is not seeking re-election.
