CHEESE INDUSTRY

REGISTRATION ORDER OBLIGATIONS NOT FULFILLED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The Minister of Manpower, the Hon. R. Semple, stated today that some hundreds of workers in the cheese manufacturing industry had not yet fulfilled their obligations under the Cheese Industry (Registration of Employment) Order, whereby men engaged in that industry, as well as those who at any time since July 1, 1936, had been employed continuously in the industry for three months or more, were required to register by July 14. Mr Semple urged those eligible to register to do so immediately. The order also required cheese factories to register and supply certain information to enable provision to be made to meet the labour requirements of the industry for the coming season. The Minister said that here again only a small number of registrations were effected within the time limit, and emphasised the. necessity of early registration.
