PRESIDENT OF COMMISSION FORMER NEW ZEALANDER (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday Cabled advice has been received that Brigadier John lnglis Chrysiall has been appointed president of the Commission of Control in Syria with the rank of major-general. Formerly of Christchurch and a pupil of Cftrist’s College, Major-Gen-eral Chrystall, who is aged 55, took a diploma in agriculture at Lincoln College. After farming for three years he joined the 13th Hussars in India, being stationed at Bangalore. He was awarded a commission during the Great War. In 1930 Major-General Chrystall was stationed at Knartoum, acting for the Governor in his absence. Returning to his regiment he was seconded for duty overseas and transferred to Transjordania. In 1940, with the rank of brigadier, he was posted to the 6th Cavalry Brigade in Palestine, where he had since remained.
