DIVORCES GRANTED

ORDER FOR RESTITUTION Three petitions in divorce and one action for the restitution of conjugal rights were heard before Mr Justice Ostler in the Supreme Court, Hamilton, today. Decrees nisi were granted in the cases in which Edwin Legg (Mr W. J. King) proceeded against Rita Isobel Legg on the grounds of desertion, and Jean Harding (Mr A. L. Tompkins) proceeded against George Craig Harding on a separation agreement. An order for the restitution of conjugal rights, to be complied with in 14 days, was granted in the case in which Herbert James Nicol (Mr W. J. King) proceeded against Myrtle Grace Nicol (Mr F. C. Henry). The story of a husband’s desertion of .his wife was told in the case in which Dorothy Kathleen Dixon (Mr A. L. Tompkins) proceeded in divorce against Robert Charles Dixon. Petitioner said that she married respondent in 1932 and they lived in Hastings, off and on, until 1935. Respondent had a long criminal record and was in and out of gaol from a few months after the marriage. He was later declared an habitual criminal and was put in gaol. However, the order was rescinded and he was released, but petitioner had not seen him since that time. She did not know where he was. There were two children. ms Honour made an order granting a decree nisi and custody of the children to petitioner.
