HOSTESS EVENING

WAIKATO LYCEUM CLUB A delightful hostess evening, arranged by Mesdames R. B. Cranwell, H. J. McMullin, and A. R. Brown, was held by the Waikato Lyceum Club in the lounge on Monday evening, when a varied programme was presented to the large attendance of members and their friends. Bowls of hydrangeas and mimosa were arranged in charming profusion about the lounge, and a blazing log tire added a welcome and cheery note to the happy atmosphere. The following programme was thoroughly enjoyed:—lnstrumental trio, Mrs A. English (piano), Miss Helen Heywood (’cello), and Mr Kirby (violin); play, “The Princess and the Woodcutter,” by A. A. Milne, presented by Margaret Stokes, Marshall Hobson, Alison Grassick, John Ziman, Peter de Latour, Jack Coombes and Norman Kemp, pupils of the Hamilton High School; songs, Master lan McMullin; pianoforte solos, Miss Sydney Strang; sketch, Miss Gady Hodgson; travel talk on South Africa, Mrs R. B. Cranwell. At the conclusion of the evening, the president, Mrs Hugh Douglas, thanked the hostesses and the performers. The guests were received by Mrs R. B. Cranwell, wearing a black gown relieved with bead embroidery, Mrs H. J. McMullin in a gown or shell pink worn with a floral jacket, and Mrs A. R.
