Warr, England (father). PRIVATE A. C. STUART Private Alan Charles Stuart, aged 25, has been reported killed in action. Born in Hamilton, Private Stuart received his education at the Opotiki District High School, Auckland University College and Victoria University College, Wellington. He held the degree of Bachelor of Arts and the Diploma in Education. Private Stuart taught at the Opotiki District High School and the Te Kuiti District High School, and at the time of his going into camp was a master at St. Stephen’s College, Bombay. He represented Auckland University College at boxing and Victoria University College as a harrier. DRIVER D. H. SHAW Cabled advice has been received by Mr and Mrs W. D. Shaw, ol Hillcrest, that their son, Driver D. H. Shaw, has been reported missing following the Battle of Crete. Driver Shaw, who was educated at the Hamilton High School and who was employed by the Shell Oil Company before the outbreak of war, was evacuated from Greece to Crete. KILLED IN ACTION FORMER CAMBRIDGE MEN (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday In the latest casualty lists are the names of three former Cambridge district men. Reported killed in action, LanceCorporal Edward Frank Lister Cooper, whose next of kin is his mother, Mrs A. I. Cooper, of Otoko, resided in Cambridge for six years and before enlisting was employed by Messrs S.P.N.D. as a builder. He played Rugby for the Northern Club and was a five-eighths in the Cambridge senior representative team. He boxed his way into the final of his battalion championship and was awarded the Freyberg Medal for swimming. He was a member of the battalion relay team. Private James Rex Gear, reported killed, was the son of Mr J. E. Gear, of Auckland, and before enlisting was a farm hand on Mr Swayne’s Fencourt farm. He was also employed for a time at the Fencourt factory. He was a footballer in the Leamington Club. He was also a good swimmer and was awarded a Freyberg swimming medal in Egypt. Sergeant Herbert Frederick Scott, whose next of kin is his mother, Mrs M. Scott, of Auckland, has been reported killed. He was a schoolteacher in Cambridge for about 16 months. He was a member of the Cambridge Golf Club and was secretary of the Swimming Club. As a member of the Choral Society he conducted the children’s choirs at the society’s festivals.
