£200,184 EXPENDED NATIONAL BOARD ACCOUNTS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WIBDIJTNGTON, Friday Administration expenses or only £238 out or a total expenditure or £'200,184 were shown in a statement or receipts and payments oi the National Patriotic Fund Board for the period of etgTit mouths as Train October 1, which w«as placed before, the annual conference of patriotic bodies in Wellington this week. Considerable sums or money have been remitted overseas to provide contingency funds. For this purpose during: the past eight months £3'2,250 has been sent to L'g-ypt, £B7'sc to England, £<l3,2.>G to Suva, and £-50 to Australia—a total of £51,306, in addition to the maintenance the Y.iM.C-A. service. These funds constitute a reservoir to meet such events as the evacuation of the. New Zealand troops from Greece and Crete. The board In the last eight months has also spent £11,156 in purchasing goods in New Zealand Tor sale to troops at cost in the New Zealand Forces Club at Cairo. Another amount or £8647 has also been spent in t-he same period in this country in the purchase of smell items as radio sets, tobacco and cigarettes, newspapers ami periodicals, and sports gear for the forces overseas. Sick and Wounded During the past eight months contingency funds or £5742 for Egypt and £12,4150 for England have also 'been provided rrom the Sick and Wounded Fund. The accounts disclose a balance in the Sick and Wounded Fund or £4'59,3 : 82, but in view of the large number of New Zealand sick ami wounded ami also prisoners or war as a result of the recent operations in Greece and Crete, it is anticipated that this rund will be called upon to meet very heavy commitments in the near future. Details are given in the statement of receipts and expenditure of expenditure on comforts for troops. They include the following items:—Troops on transports, £2945: troops overseas, £8647; troops in New Zealand, £2-9'56; regimental funds, £56>7: military bands equipment, £1741; library service for troops, £222; comforts for overseas seamen, £857. Donations to the common fund or the board in the eight months under revie-w totalled £129,700. and were made up as follows: Direct to the board, £19,614; contributions from provincial patriotic councils, £11 0,0186.
