WESTFIELD WORKERS request for parliament (By Telegraph.-Association) TAURANGA, Friday The action of 145 inen at the Westfield freezing works in taking Wednesday afternoon off to go to the Eilerslie races was described by Mr F. W. Doidge, M.P. for Tauranga, speaking at Kutikati, as complete defiance of the Government. Mr Doidge said he* intended asking the Government, when Parliament met next week, to follow the example of Britain, where the Minister of Labour, Mr Ernest Bevin, had been responsible for legislation imposing a fine of £IOO or three months’ imprisonment on any man absenting himself from work without leave.
