NOT ENCOURAGED
ROMANCE AMONG NURSES SYDNEY, June 7 Romance in the Army, especially among nurses, is not encouraged during wartime, according to military authorities at Victoria Barracks today. Asked whether, instructions had recently been issued, that A.I.F. nurses, who have married since joining, have been required to give an undertaking that they will stay at least six months in the service, a military spokesman said that was not the position, but nurses were bound by other regulations regarding marriage.
These, he said, provided that a nurse, on joining the service, must make a declaration that she has no present intention of marrying within 12 months. If she does marry within that period, she is required to refund one-twelfth of the kit allowance, made to her on appointment, for every month of the 12 that she fails to serve, owing to marriage.
