MORRINSVILLE RUGBY

MARSHALL CUP COMPETITION (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Monday. The second series of games in the Marshall Cup Rugby competition played last Saturday resulted in two matches of a high standard. Terriers defeated United by 11 points to 3 and Kereone lost by 10 points to 0 against Old Boys. In the Terriers-United match the play was fast, the Terriers backs handling well and showing more combination than United. The United forwards played with plenty of dash and often bustled Terriers’ backs, but over-eagerness on the part of the forwards often spoilt a chance to score. Terriers’ score was the result of three tries, one converted, and United’s three points from a penalty goal kicked by Haycock.* Mr I. Major was referee. "The Old Boys-Kereone match was mainly a forward game, the two packs being evenly matched and playing good hard football, with the Old Boys’ backs being sufficiently superior to pin the play in Old Boys’ favour. It was well on into the second "half or the game beTore Old Boys scored, a try by Bowers being converted bv Aitlcen. The only other score was a try by Aitken. which he also converted, the game finishing, Old Boys 10, Kereone 0. Mr E. J. O’Grady was referee.
