THREAT TO RESIGN PRIORITIES IN AMERICA STAND BY DIRECTOR (United Pmss Assn.—Klee. Tel. Copyright. (Received May 15, 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 14 . Mr H. Knudsen has announced that he is determined to resign the direc- j torship of the Office for Production ! Management if his hands are tied in the matter of priorities, reports | the Washington correspondent of the Association Press of America. Mr Knudsen has taken the stand that he could not continue the Office for Production Management if someone else had authority to say what orders should be placed before others. To avert such a development the Administration is throwing its full weight behind a move to reverse the decison of the House of Representatives on priorities and leaVe them in Mr Knudsen’s hands. A later message states that the Senate Military Committee unanimously approved of the bill giving ( the Office for Production Manage- j ment broadened mandatory authority i to designate which defence materials ! and equipment should be produced j first. i Injury To Foot As a result of the motor-cycle he i was riding coming into collision with j a car at Matamata yesterday, James H. The mas, farmer, aged 19, son of Mr J. H. Tnomas, of Matamata, received a crushed foot and was admitted to the Waikato Hospital.
