ADJOURNED APPEALS TERRITORIAL TRAINING NO. 2 BOARD PRONOUNCEMENT “In all cases in which appeals are adjourned sine die on the ground of public interest or undue hardship, appellants are expected where possible to undertake some form of defence or national emergency work, and wherever possible the appellant will be transferred to the Territorial Forces for training at some suitable time,” stated the chairman, Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., at a sitting of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board at Thames.
“In all cases the Appeal Board will, at the hearing, consider whether or not it should as a condition of adjournment order that the appellant enrol in the Emergency Fire Service, the Emergency Precautions Scheme or the Home Guard, and when accepted comply with the conditions of service thereof.
“When sine die adjournments have already been granted the board will review such cases with a view to imposing one of these conditions. It would materially assist the work of the board and save the time of such appellants if they enrolled forthwith in these organisations and advise the secretary of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board at Hamilton that they have done so, otherwise they may be required to appear before tSie board at one of its sittings. If they cannot serve in these organisations they should so advise the secretary, giving their reasons.”
