PETER PAN’S LETTER
|}EAR GIRLS AND BOYS, ;? Aren’t these mornings chilly with their thick blankets of grey fog and their brisk winds ? Peter and the Twins are finding it % very hard to leave their cosy beds these days and the Sunshine Girl jjj scolds them every morning for getting up late, while the Wendy Person says that the Autumn days are just beginning, so the Circle ?• People shouldn't be feeling the cold yet. % During these last few days Peter has been finding tiny scraps of Lady Autumn peeping through and the Wind Elves are all whispering such lovely secrets about jolly golden days ahead, while the |J air seems to grow more bracing every day. There are lots and lots of scarlet berries to be found too and !* Peter’s crab-apple tree is laden with rosy-cheeked apples which make a lovely picture amongst their green leaves. Purple grapes ?! are in profusion and Peter thinks they make such a lovely splash % of colour as they peep from beneath their foliage against a back- S? ground of deeper green lattice. ;• Even the paddocks down the country lanes are looking ?• lovely just now, aren’t they, with the sun making the dew drops % gleam like a million fairy diamonds in the early morn and the tiny ! f pink-tipped daisies and the golden buttercups are blooming in pro- ;• fusion. % And now here comes the Printer Man and the Twins (who are % looking very rosy-cheeked and breathless, so Peter expects they !* have another secret tg tell).
