WAIKATO COMPETITION IMPORTANT DECISION REACHED NOMINATIONS CLOSE IN APRIL A decision to stage a Waikato Jersey Oaks competition was reached at a largely-attended meeting of the Hamilton Jersey Club at which the president, Mr D. D. Wilson, presided Despite the fact that there will be no subsidy from the New Zealand Jersey Council during the war, the meeting was unanimous that the competition should be inaugurated and agreed that all the necessary finance would be available from the entry fees. No fewer than 100 entries were received at the meeting. The copipetition will be open to all registered Jersey calves born between June 1, 1940 and January 31, 1941, the entry to be the property of a member of a Jersey club or the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association. Each animal to qualify shall have been awarded a first or second class C.O.R. or have been tested under O.H.T. or Group Herd Test. The final awards will be made at the Waikato Summer Show in 194 J. Nomfnations will close on April 21, 1941.
