GOVERNMENT SCHEME GISBORNE DOCTORS’ DECISION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) GISBORNE, Thursday A statement issued today, and signed by every medical practitioner in Gisborne, states that pending elucidation of certain vital points in the scheme, none of the doctors in Gisborne will enter into contracts, under the Government’s general practitioner service. WHAT IS REQUIRED NO CARDS AVAILABLE LOCALLY Inquiry at the Hamilton Post Office and the Department of Health concerning the projected innovation of the Social Security (Medical Benefits) Regulations, 1941, recently Gazetted, snows that no medical benefits cards are yet available. The regulations provide that no person will be entitled to receive any medical benefits in accordance with the regulations, for himself or for any member oi his family under id years of age, or for any other person in respect of whom he is entitled to claim medical benefits unless and until he has applied on what is called an application and agreement form. This form must be filled in with answers to many questions. When the form is completed by the applicant, he next has to get a medical practitioner to sign it also, thereby undertaking to provide medical benefits in accordance with the regulations before applicant or other person named in the form as the person entitled to receive medical benefits can do so. Separate forms have to be completed for each individual by or in respect of whom an application is made.
