ITALIANS HAMMERED
MOST RAPID ADVANCE OF WAR BRITISH SUCCESSES ON ALL FRONTS 160 MILES COVERED IN TEN DAYS DAVENTRY, Feb. 26 Nev.-s of continued British pressure on the Italians in Africa is contained in today’s communiques, the feature of which is the most rapid advance of the war in Italian Somaliland. The important port of Brava has been taken by the West African forces, which took only ten days to cover the 160 miles of desert and scrub from fcismayu. Smashing Italian outposts on the way, the British forces, in less than one month’s fighting, have penetrated over 270 miles into Italian Somaliland and are within 100 miles of the capital, Mogadiscio. Reports from other centres in Africa report continued successes. The Imperial Army is rushing its final preparations for an assault on Keren, in Eritrea. In a month’s fighting on this front nearly half of the country has been taken. Reports concerning the campaign in Abyssinia indicate that Imperial Forces are crossing the Abyssinian frontier at 12 different points. Abyssinian patriots are still joining Emperor Haile Selassie's troops in large numbers and are harassing the Italians all over the country.
