HAMILTON CLUB ACTIVITY NOVELTY MEETING IN MARCH TE KUITI SPORTS ABANDONED (By “Nurmi”) Hamilton members will be dsappointed to learn of the Te Kuiti Club’s decision to suspend operations for the duration of the war. The main trouble the club had to contend with was the action of the XX’aikato Sub-Centre in granting another club the same day as Te Kuiti Club. The popularity of the Easter Saturday meeting at Te Kuiti is an 'establshed fact with Hamilton members and It seems a pity that the sub-centre could not avert the circumstances that forced the Te Kuiti Club's decision. Captain versus President Contest The Hamiliton Club secretary, Mr. Bob Pink, had the idea for a novel meeting which has been adopted by a sub-commit-tee. With a list or club members before them, the club captain, Roy Dent, and Mr A. Malcolm, president or the club, will have alternate picks until every member is on either one or the other team. This meeting which will be held on March 9. should appeal to all members as the programme will comprise all handicap event*. Novelty has been introduced in the form of a race between a well-known racehorse and the club’s champion sprinter over a distance of 100 yards from a standing start. Inter-school Sports Last Saturday saw the start or what may become a very popular event at the park when two events were open to school boys. There will be more events for schoolboys tomorrow. There will be no entry fee and first and second prizes will be awarded while tne points gained will be credited to the school represented. HANDICAPS FOR TOMORROW The Club will hold its weekly meeting at Hinemoa Park tomorrow, starting at 2 p.m. Handicaps have been declared as follow.— Women. —75yds: B. Bremner, llyds, D.
