ANNUAL REGATTA
HAMILTON YACHT CLUB VISITING BOATS AND CREWS What promises to prove the most successful regatta yet held by the Hamilton Yacnt Club xvill be held on the Hamilton Lake during the weekend. Some of the fastest Silver Fern class boats in New Zealand are now owned and sailed in Hamilton, and these boats, together with visiting boats from Auckland, Rotorua and Tauranga, should provide interesting racing on Saturday. Of special interest will be the duel between the Wai-iti and the Ngaire, as both boats have been specially built for lake racing and are considered to be the fastest of their kind in New Zealand. A feature of the day’s sport will be the Tauranga class obstacle race. All boats will have to be capsized and righted and then sailed over the finishing line to complete the race. Seven boats are coming from Rotorua, four from Tauranga, and Hamilton’s own quota of 18 brings the total to 29. There will be four crews coming from Auckland. Hamilton’s Cornwell Cup crew will be sailing, and the champion Rotorua boat will be in the contingent from that centre.
