GROUP CONFERENCE NEW BODY APPOINTED CO-ORDINATION OF EFFORT (Official Wireless) (Received Feb. 7, 11.40 a.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 6 The Secretary of State for India, Mr L. C. Amery, replying to a Parliamentary question, announced that the Governments concerned had accepted the recommendations of the Eastern Group Conference held at Delhi. These were:— (1) The establishment in India of a central office to co-ordinate the military requirements within the area concerned. (2) The appointment of a new body to be called the Eastern Group Supply Council, to co-ordin-ate the production of and supply of munitions and stores to meet these requirements. The British Government has appointed Sir Archibald Carter, lately Permanent Secretary to the Admir- : alty, to be its representative and chairman of the Council and MajorGeneral Holden to be officer in I charge. Mr Amery said the recommendation for making the fullest possible use of the productive capacity of the various countries was being actively followed up.

Copyrigflt) MONTREAL, Feb. 5 A Royal Canadian Air Force machine discovered a wrecked aeroplane in the ice of the Nottawasga River, Ontario. It is believed to be a missing machine piloted by Aircraftsman C. M. Ross, of Melbourne, and Aircraftsman C. T. Arthur, of Mount Gambier, South Australia. They were engaged in a test of blind flying when they disappeared on Tuesday night. PRISONERS OF WAR SUPPLIES OF PARCELS CREATION OF RESERVE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 5 The active assistance of British firms familiar with packing on a large scale has been secured to carry out a scheme to create a reserve of seven weeks’ supply of parcels for British prisoners of war in Germany. Weekly requirements are about 40,000 parcels and the reserve therefore will be about 320,000. This reserve will be distributed at various points along the route, such as at Lisbon, Marseilles and Geneva. It will be available during any emergency. These weekly parcels are taken by sea from Lisbon to Marseilles. Five ships are engaged in this service and negotiations are in progress to add to this number. CABINET SHAKE-UP POLITICS IN CANADA SUPPLY OF MUNITIONS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) TORONTO, Feb. 5 The Financial Post claims that a Cabinet shake-up is imminent as a result of the report criticising the munitions programme. It will probably involve the Minister of Munitions, Mr C. D. Howe, although Mr Mackenzie King will survive as Prime Minister, the paper states.
