NINE ROUNDS COMPLETED TE AWAMUTU SUCCESS The Waikato teams participating in the Rotorua Bowling Club’s open full-rink tournament this week are performing creditably. Up to last evening R. Noonan’s Te Awamutu team had the best record with seven wins and two losses. Stewart, of Matamata, has improved his position, as a result of successive wins, and he has now six wins and two losses. Some of the leading teams in various sections met defeat yesterday, and thus gave other teams a better chance to qualify. This morning was to see the end of section play, a'nd post-section play commences this afternoon. The position of the Waikato rinks at the end of Wednesday’s play was as follows: Section A.—Delargey (Putaruru), 3 wins, 5 losses. Section B: Pilkington (Hamilton), 4 wins, 4 losses. Section C: Rankin (Huntly), 4 wins, 4 losses; Davis (Whitiora), 4 wins, 5 losses. Section D: Noonan (Te Awamutu), 7 wins, 2 losses; Livingstone (Walton), 3 wins, 5 losses; Elliott (Whitiora), 8 losses. Section E: Stewart (Matamata), 6 wins, 2 losses. THIS MORNING’S PLAY Play proceeded this morning on last greens, and in line weather. The Waikato teams in the tenth round fared as follows: Section B: Budd, Rotorua 24 v. Pilkington, Hamilton, 14. Section C': Martin, Carlton, 2-1 v. Rankin, Huntly, 10: Davis, Whitiora, a bye. Section D: Noonan, Te Awamutu, a bye; Livingstone, Walton, 24 v. Elliott, Whitiora, y. Section E: Stewart, Matamata, 21 v. Stringer, Hillsborough, 13. Post-section play is expected to commence at about 4.15 p.m.
