EFFORTS FOR HUNTLY
MR LEE MARTIN THANKED (Special to Times) HUNTLY, Wednesday The Hon. W. Lee Martin, M.P. for Raglan, accompanied by Mrs Lee Martin, paid a visit to the monthly meeting of the Huntly branch of the New Zealand Labour Party this week. Mr Lee Martin said he regretted that he had been unable to see the members personally to advise them of his decision to relinquish Ministerial office before it had been made public. He paid tribute to the most valuable assistance he had. received from his colleagues, especially the Hon. F. Langstone. Minister of Lands, upon whom the bulk of the work had fallen as a result of his illness. He regretted severing his associations, especially the Huntly electors, who had supported him so strongly. The Mayor, Mr W. C. E. George, saicl there were many improvements for Huntly that Mr Lee Martin had been instrumental in obtaining during his term of office, including a new post office and railway station.
