GAY ROSETTE—GLENBEVAN RESTRICTED ACTIVITY (By "Mrtian”) Due to the fact that the majority of Rotorua candidates raced at the Matamata fixture on Saturday there was restricted activity at Te Rapa this morning when the No. 1 grass provided fast going. Among those to be allotted strong work were Acreman, General Riske, Tea Drop, Royal Jay, Sporting Ace, Penzance, Vitement. Royal Son, Foxsen, Trouvaille, Karatoki, Gold Spot, Bronze Bird, Foxmint and Trilliarch. Forest Acre (Gollop) finished up strong work by coming the final three furlongs in 40s. He looks in good order for engagements at Rotorua over the week-end. Gay Rosette (Ensor) was shading Glenbe\*an (Brown) o\ r er the deciding stages of six furlongs in 1.15, the first three furlongs being run in 36 l-ss. Both these members of A. C. Jones’ string are in capital order for pending engagements. W. O. Ensor will be riding Bronze Emerald, Miss Te Koura, Glenbevan, Black Musk and Bronze Ora at Rotorua. N. R. McKenzie and H. Long will be riding at Hawera on Thursday, the opening day of the Egmont Racing Club’s Summer meeting.
TAKANINI TRACK GLEN CONNEL IN 'FORM DINKY DI AND QUEEN CITY ‘ (By Telegraph.—.special t« Timet) AUCKLAND, Tuesday The middle grass track, on which the poles were sft. out, provided excellent going at Takanini this morning, but there was not a great deal of galloping. The best efforts were recorded by Glen Connel, Dinky Di and Queen City. Dinky Di was going comfortably alongside Ascot Bloom at the finish of half-a-mile in 51s. Glen Connel registered the best five furlongs, covering the distance in 1.2 3-5. He has been working well, but has not been racing generously. Snake Gully strode over a similar distance easily in 1.5. Palustre was not being extended to record 1.5 1-5. La Rosita traversed six furlongs in 1.19. Queen City defeated Surpai and Cillas (Beguely), who finished together at the end of six furlongs in 1.15 3-5, the first three being covered in 375. Work on the Plough The Dozer completed his work on the plough by sprinting three furlongs in 39 3-ss. Agricola also worked on the plough, but was pulled up at the top of the straight, owing to bleeding. River Plate traversed half-a-mile in 52 3-ss, Third Degree taking 51 2-ss, while Gayjax beat Tellyu over a similar distance from a barrier start in 50 4-5 s by two lengths which he obtained at the start.
