CAR WRECKED
TWO SERIOUSLY HURT WAIHI BEACH ROAD SMASH TRUCK OCCUPANTS ESCAPE (By Telegraph.—special to Ttinea) WAIHI, Monday As the result of a head-on collision between a motor-car and a lorry on the Waihi Beach road at about 5.45 p.m. today, two men were later admitted to the Waihi Hospital seriously injured. They were Mr Allan Cochrane and Mr Douglas Kneebone, both of Otahuhu. Mr Kneebone was a passenger in a light motor-car driven by Mr Cochrane. The vehicle collided with a lorry, the property of the Waihi Borough Council, driven by Mr Royce Morgan, of Waihi, who was accompanied by four children. The car was almost totally wrecked. After receiving first aid from St. John ambulance men stationed at the beach, the injured men were taken to hospital. The driver of the truck and the children had a lucky escape from serious injury, as after the collision the vehicle capsized down a 20ft. bank, landing on its hood. The occupants escaped with bruises and minor cuts. FATAL COLLISION MOTOR-CYCLE INTO BANK POPULAR MAORI’S DEATH (By Telegrapti.—Special to Times) KAWHIA. Tuesday A fatal motor-cycle accident occurred on the Kawhia main road yesterday afternoon when a young Maori, popularly known as Bob Adams, lost his life as the result of a collision. It appears that he had difficulty in starting his motor-cycle, and the machine swerved into a timber stopbank. rendering Mr Adams unconscious. He was immediately taken to the Kawhia Cottage Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries early this morning. Bob Adams belonged to the Ngati Mahuta tribe, of Taharoa, but had resided in Kawhia for many years, where he was highly respected for his industry and integrity. He leaves a wife and two small children.
