MONEY FOR WOOL
CHRISTMAS CHEQUE PAYMENT OF £290,790 FOURTH APPRAISAL RESULT Proceeds from the fourth war appraisement of wool for the season are now being distributed to woolgrowers in the Auckland Province. The cheques aggregate £290,790, bringing the total distributed to growers in the province for the current season to date of £679,000. This is approximately twice the amount paid out prior to Christmas under the auction system in peace-time. At the fourth appraisal, which took place between December 5 and December 9, a total of 16,194 bales was appraised. The net weight of wool was 5,640,0841 b and the average prices worked out at £l7 19s Id a bale and 12.39 d a lb. The price again averaged out higher than the average at which the British Government has purchased the whole Dominion clip.
