COOK STRAIT FERRY BAGS OF MAIL DAMAGED (By Telegraph—Press Association) NELSON, Monday Forty minutes after the steamer Aruhura left Nelson for Wellington on Saturday evening, fire was discovered in tl\e hold among bags of letter mail which were taken aboard just prior to departure. The outbreak was extinguished in 20 minutes, before a strong hold was obtained, though a number of bags of mail was damaged by fire and water. The damage to the other cargo was slight, some bales of hops being affected. The cause of -the fire is unknown. _____________
