CAMBRIDGE BOARD’S AREA COLLECTING BRASS CAPS (SCeclal to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday , The monthly meeting of the Cambridge Power Board was held last evening, when there were present Messrs M. Wells (chairman), J. W. Garland, W. Moore, B. N. Garland, , J. T. Entwisle, J. H. Brock, the manager, Mr F. M. Oliver, and the ' engineer, Mr H. C. Oaten, were also ; in attendance. In the course of his report the en- ; gineer mentioned that the total con--1 nections to the board’s system numbered 1938, a net gain of 15 for the period. In addition were four pumps , and three separators and one electric brooder house. Considerable work i had been done at the racecourse to provide for the requirements of the military camp. The board decided to make a donation of £25 to the Cambridge Patriotic Committee toward the Cambridge Queen in the carnival to raise funds for the relief of London and the rehabilitation of soldiers. Brass Caps Used Again The fact that the brass caps of electric light bulbs could be used again was revealed at the meeting when a communication was received j from a business firm. It Was stated that the firm is manufacturing bulbs j and that the money saved by the return of brass caps from the power j boards was being handed over to the ! patriotic fund. Already a sum of ! £25 had been paid over. It was ! stated that in the past used bulbs j had been consigned to the scrap- : heap, and it was felt that if the caps ' were of any use they should be made available to the firm. Meter readers are to be instructed to make arrangements to collect the caps \ wherever possible. -1 ■
