BIG MARCH PAST
LORD GALWAY IN SOUTH ADDRESS TO SOLDIERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday A march past of troops from Burnham camp was staged today upon | the visit of the Governor-General, | Lord Galway. Fifteen hundred Exi peditionary Force troops and 3000 Territorials participated in the ! parade, in addition to detachments ! from the district school of recently j selected recruits from Expeditionary ; Force training battalions who will i become officers of future reinforcements. There was a splendid showing by the Expeditionary Force troops, most of whom had been in training only three weeks. The Governor-Gen-eral took the salute, and with him was Brigadier O. H. Mead, Officer Commanding the Southern Military District. A feature of the parade was that five bands participated. After the parade His Excellency inspected the camp and later addressed the Expeditionary Force troops. He hoped, said he, that difficulties, dangers and discomforts which would be their lot would be faced in the same grim determination so exemplified by the First New Zealand Contingent in the last war. He wished the troops all the best of good luck and safe and happy returns.
