FRONTIER ROAD BEATS POKURU (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday In the opening round of the Waipa Country Cricket Association’s competition Frontier Road, last season’s winner, defeated Pokuru by 10 wickets. In its first strike Pokuru ran up the creditable tally of 74 (N. Hopping 24, B. Bastin 12 and K. Duggan 10). Askew took four wickets for 17, R. Wyllie 3 for 28, and J. Price two Tor 21. Frontier Road replied with 97 (J. Askew 33 not out, L. Arnold 22, G. Ellis 11 and G. Wyllie 10). Mitchell took three for 13, Neill three for 15. In the second inaings, Pokuru was all out for 30, Duggan (13) being the only batsman to reach double figures. Price was the best bowler with five fur 10, while Askew took three for 13 and 3. Wyllie two for none. Frontier Road secured the necessary runs for an outright win without loss.
