LITTLE CHANGE

KEEN BEEF SALE LATE RATES REPEATED LARGER ENTRIES FORWARD Larger entries at the Frankton sale yesterday met with a ready sale, and late quotations were usually repeated. Competition appeared a little brisker for beef, which was very firm. The fat sheep entry was the largest for some weeks, and here again values showed little change, although competition was not as strong. No apparent change was experienced in the ox beef section. A number of pens held extra heavy sorts and these sold freely from £l2 1 r.s to £l3 J2s r.d. in comparison with £l3 3? to £li 5s last week. Medium and lighter cattle wc-e usually dearer in comparison with the j heavier Sorts, medium pen- clearing from I £ll As t-> £l2 9.-. and lighter steers from £IU 8s to flu I ss, More heavy prime catlle were forward j in the c"\v beef Department than was Hi- ! ease last week, and I lie quality on Hie . whole was boner. buyers gave from £9 r.s lo £1" is lor extra heavy prime catlle. | against £3 to £9 ir.« last week, while from j prime sorts. Market for Sheep The entry of fat sheep sold fairly steadily, but there was hardly the same buoy aney of recent weeks. Prices were a little more variable than u>ual, particularly in the ease of wethers. Ewes appeared steadier of sale than wethers, but tlie market was not quite as keen. Kxrept for a few odd pens, the penning was a shorn one. From 32s r.d to 3is r.d was given for extra prime wethers, in comparison with 33s io 35s 9d last week, while fai sorts were knocked down from 29s r.d to 3ls r.d, against 30s to 325. Top quality ewes made from 22s »wi to 2is fid, compared with 23s to 25s r.d, and ordinary fat descriptions from lss to 21s, compared with 19s r,d to 225. Baconers again comprised the bulk of the fat pig yarding. Competition right through was again keen, with a further Improvement of 1? in the top price, quotations for baconers ranging from 71s to 9 3s, against 7 is to 92s at the previous sale. Competition for store pigs showed n<» slackening and last week’s dear rates were repeated.
