THE HAMILTON ASSOCIATION SUCCESSFUL SEASON CLOSES What has been a record season was brought to a close by the Hamilton Music Students’ Association last night, when there was a large attendance at the Cpntreway Rooms. The evening was devoted to dance forms and sonatas, introduced in a very interesting little address by Mr H. Cook, and folk songs. The programme was as follows: Piano, Polonaise in A Major (Chopin), Mr J. Murphy. Folk songs, “Ae Fond Kiss” and ‘‘My Faithful Fond One” (Old Highland Melodies), Mrs A. H. Garland. Piano. Sonata in A (Scarlatti) and the First Movement from Sonata in B Flat Minor (Chopin), Miss J. Billing. Violin and piano, Two Movements from the Sonata in A, Op. 30, No. 1 (Beethoven), Miss Margaret Wilson (violin) and Mrs J. R. Wilson (piano). Two pianos. Suite (Arensky), Mrs R. Spragg and Miss Ruth Haig. Violin and piano, the First Movement from the Sonata No. 1 in G Major (Granville Bantock), Miss Cecilia McLachlan (violin) and Mrs M. Sullivan (piano). Folk songs, “O No, John!” (collected and arranged by Cecil Sharp) and “The Bonny Blue Handkcher” (noted and arranged by E. T. Sweeting), Mr H. Primrose. Piano, Polonaise (Macdowell) and Bourree (Bach, arranged by Saint Saens), Mr H. Cook. Trio, Quasi Variazione from Trio in D Minor (Rachmaninoff), Miss M. Roe (violin), Miss H. Hey wood (’cello) and Mrs A. English (piano). The accompanist was Mrs A. English. The president. Miss Frances Jolly, expressed gratification at the great success of the season, and thanked all who had contributed to that success. She mentioned that the association had nearly 130 financial members. Mrs A. English returned thanks on behalf of the performers.
