TROTTING TRIALS
CANDIDATES FOR EPSOM ALCAZAR AND KATENE NARBADA WORKS WELL Track conditions were ideal at Claudelands this morning when a number of candidates for the Auckland Trotting Club’s Spring Meeting over the week-end were given their semi-final trials. Some useful work was accomplished. Hillcrest (Cutts) and Our McKinney (Vernall) were associated over two miles, the former finishing clear after running the last half-mile in 1.8 2-5. Both hit out pleasingly, and j Hillcrest finished clear of his companion. Worthy Worker (Primmer) and Silver Countess (Primmer, jun.) worked solidly over a mile and ahalf and appear to be on the improve. Alcazar (Cockbill) and Katene (Dunn) went a mile and a-half in 3.43. Both look in good order for pending engagements. Narbada (Vernall) and Albertini (Cutts) were paired over a mile and a-half, which they traversed in 3.39 1-5, their final half-mile being cut out in 1.7. It was a useful trial on the part of both horses, who were travelling well within themselves. Our Peggy (Smith) was sent a mile and a-half, her last half-mile in 1.10. She is looking a picture of condition. Ptolomy (Cockbill) and Honey ! Pot ran their last half-mile in 1.14, j and Calla Lily (Vernall) and Guide ; Peter (Marquand) covered their final j section in 1.12 4-ss. Bingen Fashion worked over a mile and a-half.
