SUPERANNUATION CHANGE (By Telegraph.-—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesc!ay Amendments to the regulations governing railway service superannuation were explained by Mr Jacob Elliott, second division representative on the Railway Superannuation Board, on his return from’ the quarterly meeting in Wellington. Through an amendment to section 113 of the 1903 Finance Act, he said, a widow of a deceased member of the superannuation fund was now enabled to draw £3l per annum during her widowhood. Before the amendment was passed, a widow received this amount, and each child £26 per annum until 14 years of age. only ii’ the contributor died while employed in the service. At’tei he had become a beneficiary, his widow or next-of-kin received the* amount remaining to his credit in a Jump sum. amendment was passed would be affected, Mr Elliott explained, except . in cases where the husband was retired as medically unfit for further service, and provided they made application before March 31, 1941. If a widow had drawn out a lump sum standing to the credit of her husband, however, it would have to be refunded or liquidated from the £3l annual allowance, and the final decision would rest with the Minister of Finance, the Hon.
