POTATOES FOR AUSTRALIA
ALL FROM SOUTH CANTERBURY (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday Arrangements for the shipment of additional potatoes to Australia have been altered because sufficient whiteskins are available in North Canterbury. No potatoes will go from ' Lyttelton, and the whole consignJ ment, now of 700 tons instead of j 1000 as originally planned, will be : bought in South Canterbury and ] shipped from Timaru. i South Canterbury is carrying large J stocks of whites, several growers | having from 4000 to 5000 sacks. It’s a queer thing but some men can j never learn to smoke. The great Na- | poleon, was like that, The first time he tried, we are told, the smoke got j down his throat and into his eyes, | and as soon as he could speak he I spluttered 44 take that thing away.” ! So disgusted was he that he never I tried again, and as usually happens in { such cases became an anti-tobaccoite. : The would-be smoker should begin I with cigarettes, and can’t do better | than get a tin of Riverhead Gold—or j Desert Gold—the two leading tobaci cos on the market, and roll his own i When he has got his prer.tice-hand in, ; so to speak, he can try a pipe of CavJ endish or Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog) ' and later sample Cut Plug No. 10 j (Bullshead)—full strength, and the old smoker’s favourite. These com- [ prise the live famous toasted blends, ! renowned alike for their delicious | flavour and beautiful bouquet. They j are, being toasted, as pure as tobacco i can be. and their widespread popu- | larity is demonstrated by the everi increasing demand for them.
