MIDNIGHT FIRE
POST OFFICE GUTTED BUCKET BRIGADE’S EFFORTS (by Telegrapu.—Press Association) TAURANGA, Saturday The Katikati Post Office was completely destroyed by fire shortly alter midnight. The exchange operator, who had just left the building, glaci’ng back noticed smoke but was unable to reopen the building. He immediately notified the postmaster, who organised a bucket brigade, but this was unable to cope with the fire, which by 1.30 a.m. had completely gutted the building. The police are investigating.
