Dr. G. W. Gower, of Hamilton, left last night for Wellington.
Mr A. J. Heighway, formerly managing director of National Magazines, Limited, Wellington, has been appointed managing editor of World’s Press News, London. The Rev. George Jackson, chairman of the New Zealand Congregational Church Union, left Auckland last night for a three weeks’ tour of the 40 Congregational Churches in New Zealand. Messrs H. J. Gill and A. E. Manning were re-elected unopposed to the directorate of the Farmers’ Cooperative Auctioneering Company, Limited, at the annual meeting of shareholders to-day. Mr Frank MacDonald, president of the South Auckland Rugby League, left Huntly this week to take over the management of the Hotel St. George, Wellington. He was the guest at a social evening arranged by the Rugby League Control Board. Mr W. Parsonage, who has been inspector of coal mines at Greymouth for the last four years, has been appointed superintendent at Glen Afton Collieries, Waikato. He will take up his new appointment in the New Year. Mr Parsonage was a mine manager on the West Coast for 21 years prior to his appointment as an inspector.
