NEW ZEALAND PROTEST
BASELESS AND FANTASTIC DENIAL FROM NEW YORK (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 17, 3.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 16 The New York Times has received a cablegram from the Hon. P. Fraser, Prime Minister of New Zealand, protesting against the German and Rome overseas radio broadcast quoting the New York Times of September 8 as the authority for the report that New Zealand troops had revolted against embarking for England for the war. Mr Fraser called the report baseless and fantastic, and expressed certainty that the Times had not published it, but requested an authoritative denial. The Times denies the report, declaring that it never published such a, story.
