THREATS BY HITLER

MENACE TO AMERICA WARNING OF REPRISALS INTIMIDATION OF EDITOR (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 17, 3.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 16 The New York Post features the first of a series of articles “Men Against America,” headed “Nazi Consul's Threats—American editor warned by reprisals by Hitler.” The charges are supported by a photostated letter from the German Consul at New Orleans, von Spiegel, on June 14, who attempted in February, 1938, to intimidate and coerce the editor of a pro-American Ger-man-language newspaper, the Texas Free Press. The letter declared that Germany will in future act drastically against international newspaper propaganda containing lies.
