The Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, arrived at Frankton by the Limited Express this morning j and went on to Rotorua. The Mini ister is to preside over a conference j of fisheries officers of his department ! at Rotorua, and will then leave for Auckland. Mr P. J. H. White, of New Plymouth, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Empire Society, London. Dr. Edgar Ford, examiner for the Trinity College of Music, London, is visiting New Plymouth. Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, is in Auckland for a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board. Messrs C. L. Riddell, H. S. Vestey (Christchurch), W. Wilcox, A. F. Cadness and W. Brinsden (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Major Cyril Bavin, formerly of Auckland, has been appointed liaison officer to the New Zealand Govern- ! ment in connection with the evacua- ! tion of British children to the Domij nion. He expects to reach WellingI ton in October and then to proceed ‘to Auckland. For the past 24 years | Major Bavin has served on the | National Council of the Y.M.C.A. in ' London.
