ENEMY SHOT DOWN
BRITISH TRAWLERS’ SUCCESS MINE-SWEEPING OPERATIONS (Official Wireless) (Received Sept. 16, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 15 The Admiralty announces that the mine-sweeping trawlers Labra and Conquistandor shot down an enemy plane this morning. There were no casualties on the trawlers. The veteran Sikh leader Taran Singh has offered to raise 100,000 recruits in the event of Congress reaching an agreement, and has also written to Gandhi and Congress urging Congress to co-operate with Britain owing to the dangers to India u Bnuun were defeated.
