“THE NEW MOON”
MACDONALD—EDDY FILM MELODY AND ROMANCE After eighteen months of screen separation, Jeanette MacDonald ana Nelson Eddy are to be seen again in a romantic musical show. This is a screen version of the Oscar Hammerstein musical play, “New Moon.” which ran for 150 nights at Drury Lane. It has a romantic story of a French Duke, who became a political prisoner, was transported to America, and sold into slavery. He become a butler in the house of an autocratic lady who falls in love with him. After many adventures, he breaks away and sails the seas in his ship, the New Moon. Fate throws the couple together
again and eventually love finds a way. Jeanette has some lovely, lilting numbers to sing, including the favourite, ,u Lover, Come Back to Me.” Other song hits are “Wanting You” and “ Stout-hearted Men.” Jeanette and Eddy were last seen together in “ Sweethearts,” and as a team they have always been in the top-flight of Hollywood money-spin-ners.
