WEDDING
BROWN—CROOK WHITE SATIN GOWN The wedding took place at the Kihikihi Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, August 31, between Lillian Lorraine, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. F. Crook, and Ronald Joseph, youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Brown. The Rev. T. G. Shilton was the officiating minister, and Miss J. Sutherland presided at the organ. The church was charmingly arranged with masses of plum blossom, lilies and maidenhair fern. The bride wore a lovely gown of white satin cut on princess lines, and her veil was held to the head with a spray of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of freesias, daffodils and maidenhair fern. In attendance on the bride as bridesmaids were Miss Majorie Crook, sister of the bride, and Miss Marjorie Anderson, who were in pale green taffeta frocks trimmed with mauve. On their heads they wore veils held in position with matching sprays. Their bouquets were composed of stock, pansies and anemones.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr J. R. Thomson, and Mr R. Brown, nephew of the bridegroom, was groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs M. and A. Brown. The bridal couple left the church under an archway of tennis racquets held by members of the Kihikihi Tennis Club, to which the bride and bridegroom belong. At the reception, following the ceremony, Mrs Crook received her guests wearing a pin-striped navy costume and navy accessories, and the bridegroom’s mother was in a navy suit with accessories to tone. When Mr and Mrs R. J. Brown left for their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a rust frock, a navy hat and navy accessories. They will make their home at Kihikihi.
